The Smartest
Mrs. Bird and her two little childern lived on the peak of an areca tree. Every morning she fad them happily. She always did her best to take care of her beloved childern. She built a very comfortable nest for them. She always proud of it. After admiring her nest, she looked at Mr. Spider who lived next door. “Hi, Mr. Spider. It’s really nice to see you,” she greeted him. Then she asked, “What are you doing?” I’m finishing my web, replied Mr. Spider. “Your web? Hahaha, it’s so weak, isn’t it?. Look at my nest. It’s stong, warm, beautiful and artistic. My childern can stay there safely,” Mrs. Bird said proudly.
Having heard Mrs. Bird’s words, Mr. Spider could not bear his emotion any longer. He replied, “But wasn’t your nest blown out off its tree because of strong last week? Look, the strong wind could not destroy my web. It’s made of flexible and strong thread. Moreover, there’s no need for me to go out to get my meal. Foolish insects trapped in my web will become my meal. You, see, I have a wondeerful life. So, I think I’m smarter than you are”.
Both of them were arguing to find out who the smarter was when an ant wacthed them for a long time. “Stop arguing, friends. Neither of you is smarter. My family and I never argue. We always work together, greet one another, help each other, in short we life peacefully. I think I’m smarter than both of you, “interrupted Miss
One the way they met Mr. Chameleon. “Hi friends, where are you going?” inquired Mr. Chameleon who was on a big shady banyan tree. “We are going to see Mr. Rooster. We want him to judge who yhe smarter among us is,” said Miss Ant enthusiastically. “I see. But don’t you know that none of you is the smartest? I’m the smartest because I can adjust my skin to my environment. It changes into green, brown, and other colors depending whem I’m. So I’m the smartest, aren’t I?” asked Mr. Chameleon. Hearing the boasing chameleon, Mr. Spider asked cynically, “Then, Mr. Chameleon. What is your skin’s real color?” Mr. Chameleon could not answer his question. But each of them was still sure that he or she was smartest.
Mr. Rooster open the door and interruped, “be cool, my comraders. Don’t quarrel. To tell the truth none of you is the smartest. It’s me. Listen! Without my precense in this worold, you wouldn’t be able to get up early in the morning. While all of you are still sleeping soundly, I have got up. With my wonderful crowing, I ask the sun to light up our world”.
The quarrel was becoming even hotter when Mr. Mouse Deer approached them. “Hi, foolish animals. Don’t you knowthat I’m the smartest of all. I even deceived Mr. Crocodile and Mr. Tiger succesfully when they tried to kill me,” bosted Mr. Mouse Deer. Thay all got sorethroats because of their inccessant arguing. They where getting tired and the day grew daarker and darker. The night came, slowly stars appeared inn the sky. The animal stoped arguing and enjoyed the twinkling stars. The star made the jungle look beautiful. Soon the moon was coming out. “What a beautiful night it is! But I wonder who hangs the stars and the moon in the sky?” asked Mr. Chameleon. None of the animals answered his question. All of them fully admired the beautiful light. They did not quarell anymore. Because of their great admiration, they came to a conclusion that none of them was the smartest except the One who hung the stars and the moon in the sky.
